SPARUS LEADERSHIP

Jay Squance

Chief Financial Officer

For over 20 years, Jay Squance has rebuilt finance functions into ones that keep pace with the business and hold it accountable for where it’s going.

GE Aviation gave him the foundation: financial discipline does more than track results. It creates competitive advantage. From there, he moved through M&A integration in the paper industry, cultural transformation at WestRock, and a PE-backed turnaround where he built a finance function from scratch and left the business generating positive free cash flow.

He joined Sparus in 2024 to do the same thing at considerably larger scale. He rebuilt the team. Implemented an integrated platform across financial management, workforce and expense systems. Redesigned how the company tracks profitability at the job level, pushing accountability out of finance and into the hands of the people who run the work.

Sparus has delivered over 40% earnings growth since he arrived — not from a single initiative, but from building an organization where every leader owns their outcomes. The goal isn’t better reports. It is better decisions by the people making them. That means finance conversations on job sites and in operations reviews.

MBA, Cleveland State University Monte Ahuja School of Business. Bachelor of Science in finance, Miami University Richard T. Farmer School of Business. GE-certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
